Patience McElwee

British author born in 1910. She wrote both children's and adult novels, including three hard to find pony novels. All three books have very attractive jackets, one illustrated by Sheila Rose (The Merrythoughts), the other two possibly by Caney. (Not credited to him but they certainly look like his work.)
